New Pupil Progression Requirements:

A few weeks ago, Orange County Public schools revised the plan - Students in 3 rd , 4 th , 5 th , 6 th , and 7 th grades will have to make a Level 2 or higher (Levels 0 - 5) on the Reading tests in the FCAT in order to progress to the next grade.

All students, including SLD, are required to take the tests - with the accomodations listed on their Individual Educational Plans.

“Good Cause Exemptions” ( or exceptions to the rule):
Last year, 3 rd graders in Exceptional Ed (this includes SLD or Learning Lab) who:

a) had received 2 years (documented) of intense remediation in reading and had been retained once

b) made a 51 %ile on the NRT Reading portion of the tests could be promoted to the next grade.
